The Future
The truth is that Internet Explorer is really more than just a web browser. It has come a long way, from being an extra add-on in the Plus! Pack to the critical system component it is right now. Even after several anti-trust lawsuits by several outfits, Internet Explorer continues to be at the heart of our beloved operating system. Windows Vista has Internet Explorer 7 tightly integrated into the roots. The next version of Internet Explorer, version 7, takes the hint from other popular browser and now incorporates various new features such as tabbed browsing (without an additional toolbar to install), RSS syndication, improved security and privacy.

Will it make Firefox go down the same way as Netscape Navigator back in the days? We think not. It's been a while since Internet Explorer has been out there and every malware developer knows almost everything there is to know about hacking it and making it display intrusive ads or shoving something creepy crawly down the users computer. Even after IE7 and its "improved security", viruses and worms for Windows will continue to throw users and entire networks offline, and most of these will proliferate through the porous Internet Explorer, the unsuspecting internet surfer's expressway to hi-tech hell.
