Speed Test: Here we printed 20 identical documents at normal quality and then calculated the printer's speed in documents per minute.
Time taken: 19 Minutes 50 seconds
The cartridges spanned over 150 pages.
Cartridge Price
Black (BCI 24): Rs. 325/-
Colour (BCI): Rs. 672/-
Overall results were definitely impressive, but variable in different tests. As I said before, magenta and black were reproduced quite high and low, respectively, while the color reproduction was not up to the mark. What impressed was the very fast speed at high-resolution mode.
Scanner/Copier
Here we used our benchmarks of resolutions ranging from 150 dpi to 600 dpi supported by this MFD. Although one was impressed with the printouts, the MFD claims to scan at an optical resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi at 36-bit color depth. Scan time was again fast with 600-dpi scans done under 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The presence of grains was very visible even though the flatbed scanner did well to pickup colors very accurately. Like other MFDs, this one too features a one-touch scan button and operates without the need of a PC.
The Multi-Photo mode is useful if you want to scan three images at once and save it as three separate images that can later be adjusted. Alternatively, the scanner software can store a multi-page document as a single file.
The copier was again very impressive even though slow. This could be due to the initial scan time because the actual copy time took around 2 minutes. Here again, the results were impressive. What's important here is the menu interface was a bonus providing many options like choosing paper type, color density, borderless copy etc.
Conclusion
Absence of a fax is quite disappointing as many SOHO users are willing to shift to MFDs very soon. Office users may require fax capabilities for their daily use. Priced at Rs. 6,900/-, higher than the current range of MFDs, this one is extremely efficient, gives fast printouts and pretty much satisfactory results with little reason to complain about.
