With broadband now becoming common, webcam usage has seen quite a surge. It's a lot easier and more possible to communicate with your friends and relatives online, making your conversations more interactive and fun than ever before. If you are yet to experience this new generation excitement, then here is your chance to. Tech-Com's SSD-641-MP web cam is not just affordable but even better in its performance compared to most of those expensive cams currently being offered and you'll know how.

Setting Up the Scene
Tech-Com's SSD-641-MP comes with a USB cable for instant plug and play connectivity. Getting started with the cam in Windows XP was a breeze. I plugged it in to the USB port and it got detected in a fraction of a second. This camera is based on a generic SunPlus SPCA561 chipset, the drivers for which are included in Windows XP.
The mounting stand attached to it is ideal to locate the camera over a flat surface and the cam mounted on the pivot offers 360 degrees of horizontal motion, and about 40 degrees of vertical motion, which practically covers most of the view. The smooth pivot response makes this view adjustment very easy. Affixed on the top is a snapshot button which allows you to instantly capture whatever is in front of the camera by clicking on it with your finger, but provided that the software is running. These can be later edited or simply emailed to your friends.

...Action!
Most of our friends and relatives live overseas and we rely on instant messaging to stay in contact as it the most cheapest and convenient of all. But with video and audio facility this becomes more lively and interactive than any other mode of contact. With the 641-MP's easy detection by any instant messenger, this is made possible with just a single click.
As far as the output is concerned, I found it extremely powerful with high and sharp details and much more significant was its capability to auto tune itself to different light conditions. The CMOS Image sensor tunes itself well to the low light conditions and delivers an improved vision which you find in most of those high end web cams. It offers resolution up to VGA (640x480). Though focusing maybe a one time task, getting the lens rotary to move well to get a desired focus was a painful effort.
