Functionality
As I mentioned earlier in the review, the inbuilt camera is only capable of shooting photos at 352 x 288 pixels. What I didn't mention was that this one is capable of recording and playing videos too. The picture and video quality is quite decent, especially considering the size limitation.
Nokia had mastered integrating the FM technology into phones ages ago and as usual the inbuilt stereo FM radio sounds awesome. On the downside you still always need your headset connected for listening to the radio since the headset doubles up as an antenna. Still, not really a problem, as I would say it is highly advisable for people to use the headset while listening to the radio for the sake of the surrounding people's sanity.
The Nokia 6220 does not support upgradeable memory cards so you're limited to the 4 MB internal shared memory pool. With the 7250i, limited memory was not much of an issue since it only shot pictures, but with video shooting capabilities on this one, plus all the downloading options and better multimedia messaging capabilities, 4 MB may be a bit too little for many users.
Connectivity options of the phone include Infrared and Internet connectivity can be done via GPRS, EDGE and HSCSD. For messaging the 6220 supports SMS messaging, Picture messaging to compatible devices and Multimedia messaging (up to 100 Kb per message). It also contains an email client to send and receive mails from POP3 accounts. With Java support you can download Java games and applications via GPRS (64 Kb limit per application).
Miscellaneous features include a polyphonic ringer with 20 pre-installed ringtones. Regular applications that are commonly found in Nokia phones have made their way into this one too, namely Alarm Clock, Calendar, Stopwatch, Calculator, Countdown Timer, Wallet 2.0, World Clock, Converter, and Portfolio Manager. There are two pre-installed games, Water Rapids and Backgammon.
The 6220's network reception is pretty good even in low network areas and not once did it crackle or break during usage. The battery lasts for 4.5-5 days of regular phone and camera usage.
Conclusion
The Nokia 6220 is easily available at your friendly neighborhood mobile dealer for around Rs. 11,000. The price is quite justified for a phone with a video camera (even though the resolution is miniscule), and some pretty good features. If the price is a bit too high then you can always opt for a 7250i or a 3200. But if you're looking for a perfect mix of overall easy usage along with good looks and functionality at a good price, this one's a pretty good deal.
