Ericsson has clinched a deal with Idea Cellular to provide its EMO solution for mobile data services.
Ericsson has clinched the deal with Idea Cellular, to provide its Ericsson Mobile Organizer (EMO) solution for mobile data services, largely benefiting the Asia-Pacific region.
As per the terms of the contract, EMO will be provided in 8 Indian states, so that customers of Idea Cellular are able to enjoy value-added telephony services. Significantly, EMO will greatly increase GPRS usage on the Idea Cellular network, thereby enabling Idea to expand customer loyalty in the coveted corporate segment.
Commenting on the implications of this tie-up, Vikram Mehmi, CEO, Idea Cellular, said, "Ericsson has assisted us to introduce this trend-setting service in an extremely competitive market. It is highly important for us to offer a solution, such as this, that will position Idea Cellular as the prime driver in the corporate enterprise telecom market".
"Mobile e-mail is one of the key services the corporate segment wants to use and we believe that working together with Ericsson as our technology partner, can make push e-mail a major driver of the mobile and internet multimedia business", he added.
