sir i had krypton biostar motherboard..with inbuilt nvidia chipset. while playing NFS most wanted black edition the chipset burnt up resulting in "no display" on monitor.i am unhappy with this sort of happening..what should i do to avert this in future??

The integrated video on this or any Motherboard is not enough to play ANY good videogame, like NFS. The solution: Get an AGP video card with at least 256mb of memory.

I purchased this mobo after reading this very technical article. But my comp has been giving be all sorts of problems. The biggest of all is BSOD - Blue Screen of Death error. Hey man does anyone know about any motherboard with model number A7VIKMD??? DOES IT EXIST?? I was given a KRYPTON mainboard by my vendor and it has a sticker on it saying the model number A7VIKMD FOR SOCKET A(462) AMD Athlon processor.It says that it has a VIA KM266 chipset... but i haven't found any such model on the BIOSTAR site... Could it be DUPLICATE.. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

If I am not mistaken nForce 2 chipset has inbuilt mpeg2 decoder. Check nVidia.com for more information on nForce2 chipset.

The onboard 5.1 channel sound does have dolby digital decoder. DVD Software can decode dolby digital audio anyway, no big deal as long as you have a 5.1 channel output. To the other idiot who has replied, MPEG2 decoder has nothing to do with his question.

Hi, I'm not able to adjust my FSB beyond 200MHz in BIOS. I tried updating the bios but i'm getting a checksome error. Could anyone help me how to get a FSB of 333MHZ.

I bet you there must be jumper setting for this on your motherboard. One setting restricts you to 200MHz FSB(for AMD Duron Processors) and the other lets you configure above 200MHz FSB(for AthlonXP processors). Check your board's manual. If you don't have one then download it from www.biostar-usa.com. Krypton NF2400U Motherboard is actually a renamed Biostar M7NCD Pro board.

Of course krypton is value for money.But I have real bad experience with this brand.I have a krypton motherboard with a VIA-p4M266A chip which did work fairly well.However the model number of the board U-8668-T25-D simply cannot be found in the priyagroup website. There is no way I am going to get sownloads for bios and other things if I need them.Further this company does not offer any support for Linux users like me.I say it is better to buy something like Intel or VIA than going for such products without background.I did change the board to an 865-GBF its so well performing and the support from Intel website is really excellant

no friend the motherboards based on the nvidia nforce2 ultra 400/mcp chipsets does not have a onboard graphics card...thats with the model no c-18g-400 based on yhe nvidia nforce2 igp/mcp chipset....

Anyway I am on a very tight budget (Rs. 10000 max for all three). I have decide on the DDR 266- 256 MB RAm solution and Athlon XP 1700+ thoroughbred. I need advice on the motherboard. I need a all in one solution( inbuilt graphics, sound and lan minimum). Can you also tell me the price of the Krypton c18g motherboard. I need a nforce(2) solution preferably. I know I am hoping for too much for so little. Please can you suggest me something in the next two days. I will be leaving for Mumbai soon. Thanks to all of you for this wonderful site.

Dear Parthasarathy, the C18G board will cost you around Rs.6500 in Mumbai. The board does have display, sound and LAN onboard. Also, I am not sure if you will get a Athlon XP 1700+ now. Even if you do, skip it and opt for 2000+ selling for around Rs.3750. 256 MB of DDR Ram will cost you about Rs.2250. So these 3 components would cost you nearly Rs.12,500 which may be a bit out of your budget but a good deal though. In nForce1 you will get the Asus A7N266-VM for under Rs.4000 but you will need to buy a separate Lan card as that one doesnt have one onboard. If you already have a AGP card with you then you can go for the Krypton NF2400U motherboard based on the nForce2 chipset with sound and Lan but no onboard video. That will cost you under 5k. So take your pick. And lastly add another 256 MB of Ram whenever its feasible for you. Regards.

I forgot to add three more queries: [4] If I need to use a FireWire port for my video camera, then, is this Krypton, or the Gigabyte better than the ASUS? [5] What will be the total cost of any of these boards if I need the following: 2 USB 2.0 & 1 FireWire port ready to connect or bought seperately as add-in cards. Because, even if the Krypton is cheaper than the ASUS, if the ASUS is giving integrated FireWire also along with USB2.0, then in the total costing, ASUS may be cheaper. [5] Is capturing video (Digital8 format) through FireWire better than capturing it through a TV tuner card like AVIOSys, in terms of quality of the final captured video on the PC? Pl. advise.

Few queries: [1] How does this board compare with the Gigabyte boards with integrated Dolby & nVidia GeGoreMX GPU - cost wise & stabitlity/performance wise. [2] I have P3 based PC & am thinking of buying a new one - whether the AMD is good enough? [3] One potential problem I have been told is that as there are not enough m/cs around with AMD, in case there is any problem with the PC, there may not be any way of checking what the problem is - like for example swapping components to see what the potential problem is like - this I have been told is not problem with the Pentium PCs are they are always around. Any views ?

the review is excellent finally we can have an affordable nforce board but i was disappointed to see the gaming benchmarcks it could have been more elaborate with more games and using dual DDR option i read in some reviews that the performance of nforce 2 increase if dual ddr option is used . but its sad that this board dosent have dolby encoder . and how about the stability running different apps . i hope you will start a forum in this site

Hi Varun, neither would it be cheaper nor wud it be any better to buy a Biostar. Coz this is THE Biostar board. In other words, the original equipment manufacturer of this board is Biostar. It is sold here in India under the name Krypton. Its not a duplicate.

Great review! I too am a fan of nForce chipsets. Say, would it be possible for you to review the'C18G' motherboard, from the same company, I believe it's a rebadged Biostar M7NCG pro motherboard.
