Google is going to launch a toolbar for Firefox in the next few days which will be similar to its IE Toolbar.
According to reports the toolbar will have the same features as the IE version except for features like pop up blocking and autofill which are already in Firefox by default.
Google will continue to keep the link to Mozilla Developers Googlebar up on the Google Toolbar page, so users will have a choice between toolbars to install.
"I thought I'd drop you a note to give a heads up on something Google will be releasing next week: a version of our Internet Explorer toolbar for Firefox," said Google engineer Fritz Schneider in an email to the Mozilla Developers site.
He also said thare the Firefox toolbar is slated for release on Thursday July 7.
The software will work on Microsoft's Windows 2000 and XP platforms, Mac OS X 10.2, and "Linux 8.0+", as well as quick links to Google properties and access to advanced functionality such as spell checking and translation.
Google releasing a Firefox version signals growing awareness of increased market penetration by the open source browser. Firefox continues to snatch users users from industry titan Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
