HP manages to rule the printer market in India despite newer and cheaper offerings from its competition. Sure, the new DeskJet 3325 is small and cute, but is it a good enough performer?
The feed in tray is the same as the output tray, which can be folded neatly into the printer when not in use. The cartridges used by the printer are tiny and seemingly tamper-proof. Hence, they cannot be refilled.
However, the printer uses only the USB interface and the company has not included a USB cable as a part of their package. The box says ‘for best performance use HP USB cable.’ HP does have the best cable in the market, so it would have made sense for them to include it with the printer.
The DJ3325 is extremely noisy for an inkjet. In fact, it is almost as noisy as a dot matrix printer. Excessive vibration is another problem. The printer is also incapable of picking up one paper at a time, sometimes picking up to 21 pages.
Its amazing print quality, however, will make you want to ignore all its faults. Though just an entry-level printer, it prints better than Epson’s entry-level Stylus C41SX, which costs Rs.4400. The DJ3325 is also really cheap at Rs.3999. Our tests showed that the colours were reproduced accurately. The greys and black were also very well represented. The text prints were clear reproducing even size 1 fonts. When compared to the Stylus C41SX, the colours were more accurate and vibrant. This printer is also a speed demon printing 8.3 pages per minute! In comparison, the Epson printed only around 7.6 ppm.The DeskJet 3325 looks good, has great print quality, and is compact, fast and cheap. It also has a one year unit replacement warranty. Overall, for an entry-level printer, the printer is still a great deal at its price, especially if you want to use it to print photos.
