Airtel has launched a suite of mobile services for its customers to access a range of services when roaming in Asia.
Airtel a member of Asia's largest mobile alliance - Bridge Mobile, has announced the launch of a suite of mobile services that will enable Airtel's customers to access a range of services when roaming overseas on the alliance member's network.
The services are Bridge Roaming, Bridge Prepaid, Bridge Enterprise and Bridge Concierge.
Airtel is a founder member of the Bridge Mobile Alliance, which was established in November 2004 and which includes Globe Telecom (Philippines), Maxis (Malaysia), SingTel Mobile (Singapore), SingTel Optus (Australia), Taiwan Mobile (Taiwan) and Telkomsel (Indonesia). CSL (Hong Kong) is the latest operator to have joined the alliance in April 2005 as the eighth alliance member.
The Bridge Roaming facility allows its roaming customers access to the same short codes for calling customer service or accessing their voice mail as they do at home. They can connect to GPRS for Internet surfing or Multi Media Messaging (MMS) across all alliance members' network.
With Bridge Prepaid facility, all Airtel prepaid customers will be able to top-up their prepaid accounts overseas at designated Bridge Mobile Alliance member counters using local currency, so that they can continue to use their prepaid accounts when roaming overseas without having to worry about insufficient credits in their prepaid accounts. Airtel customers can also use the top-up service for the prepaid accounts on behalf of a friend or relative back in their home countries.
Bridge Concierge is a personalized customer service support at designated Bridge Mobile Alliance counters providing roamers with on-site assistance if they lose their mobile phones or require roaming support. The services include SIM card and handset replacement, special purchase promotions and free Call-Home Support to the home operator customer service lines at selected locations.
For Airtel's enterprise customers with regional mobile needs, Bridge Enterprise provides a regional one-stop shop service with mobile voice, data and SMS packages. All these services will be provided by the local operators under the alliance s network available in all eight countries.
