Facebook can do the unthinkable. A new app on the social network will now let your voice be heard after you die. The app named" if i die
lets users post one last video or text message that will go live after your death. This "time capsule" will certainly give sleepless nights to those who would be
happy that you have finally been silenced.
Once you go to the app page and grant it access to your info, you will be asked, "What will you leave behind?"
The makers of the app say that it is aimed to help people share their life's story or a secret they've never revealed before." So how does the app come
to know that the user is dead? The person has to appoint three trustees
from his FB friend list, who will in turn pass on
the message. Only after all three trustees confirm the news of the
user's death will the final message be posted on his wall.
The app already has over 5000 "likes". Incidentally, FB itself offers a My Memorials app
that lets turns a user's page into a memorial page once it is confirmed
that he is no more. Contrary to the aforementioned app, the
latter makes sure that the page is visible only to friends and removes
all sensitive information such as contact information and status updates, " in a bid to protect the deceased's privacy.
While on the topic, here is another FB app known as How will you die?," which claims to tell you when and how you will die by taking a look at your profile. This app has over 80,500 likes. Sounds creepy, doesn't it?
The 2012 apocalypse is a hoax after all.
