Matrimonial website Shaadi.com has come out with an innovative game to create awareness against the dowry menace. Launched on its Facebook page, Angry Brides has been developed in house. The game is quite simple to play. Pick your choice of weapons (chappals, stilettos, eggs, rolling pins, etc.) and launch them at greedy grooms bearing high price tags. With each hit the price on the groom comes down, and the money goes into an Anti-Dowry fund, which constitues the game score. You can then share your scores on your Facebook and Twitter accounts.
While the game does aim to create awareness online, a lot more needs to be done to help the cause of women suffering from the menace. Saving virtual money, and beating up greedy grooms in a game doesn't really help the cause.
