Hints at a potential game-changer for the company.
The Nokia N9 smartphone has been rumoured for quite some time now. News about the device made rounds long before the Nokia N8 made its way to the market. But now, a website has published a teaser of the all new Nokia N9, which looks quite slick with its layout and looks very similar to the images seen in the preliminary leaks.
The device has a physical slide-out keyboard with enough spacing around the buttons, which is commendable, considering the fact that most devices with a similar form factor have buttons uncomfortably close to each other. Reports also suggest that the device could feature a 12 Megapixel camera on board. However, there's still considerable doubt about the operating system being used. Early rumours claimed that the N9 would mark the re-arrival of Intel's MeeGo operating system. But the teaser video gives us a hint that it could be running on the highly anticipated Symbian Anna instead.
Apart from that nothing really is clear from the video. Some sources claim that we could see Nokia announcing or even launching the N9 as early as next month. We'll have to wait till then to get a clearer picture. Since Nokia will not start selling WP7 powered phones till 2012, this device could well prove to be the game-changer for Nokia till then.
The original teaser video has been taken down by YouTube.com following a request by Nokia Corporation citing copyright infringement. Here is another, trimmed version of the Nokia N9 teaser video for your viewing pleasure. Watch it before it gets taken down.
Nokia High end mobiles have lost ground to Samsung Galaxy S Series.
The same old boring UI from Nokia...Wake up Nokia..the world has changed so is the customers expectation...
See Samsung galaxy S..its a wonderful mobile...why can't u have similar product in ur portfolio???
what has happened to this site? a previously informative site, now blatantly copying from other blogs.. almost no original reviews, no india specific news.. too bad.. i liked this site earlier.. now, its going down badly
The only way nokia will rise to the top in the high end smartphone range will be if they release Android phones. If nokia releases an android phone, then i will be the first to buy it. But, unfortunately, that will NEVER happen. Once the king of cellphones, Nokia has lost its ground to samsung. The only reason it is still selling is because of the phones within 6K, where no (good) androids are available. Even if they do release a windows 7 phone, with the lack of apps in WP7, it still wont sell. They don't even have angry birds on WP7 yet.
how many time should we make expectation from each & every new Nokia model as "Game Changer"? N8 came with same expectation, did marginally good but canr become a game changer. All the fame of N* stolen by Galaxy. As a Nokia supporter I really dont want to repeat this history.
It's true. Same old story.. This new one will be a game changer and so on. It took Android mutiple versions to get to the present polished state. Don't forget iOS either. Nokia hopes to get to the top with one phone and a new 'all conquering OS' that might be dropped anytime soon (like Maemo)? Sure- that'll happen when Mallika Sherawat beats Gary Kasparov in chess.
it can be a game changer only if its sporting Meego (and its possible as nokia didnt say that its completely dumping meego) but the real game change will be seen when WP7 (with Nokia integration) makes its way to n8 like hardware with samsung galaxy s 2 like internals
