Runs Android 2.2 Froyo and has a 5 megapixel camera at the back
Micromax launched a budget Android phone - Andro A60 - about three months ago. Now, the company is said to be ready for the launch of Andro A60's successor Micromax A70, as spotted on GSMArena. New Micromax A70 will run on Android 2.2 Froyo. Apparently, this would be a 3G friendly offering from the company and is expected to arrive at a price of about Rs. 7,999.
Though Micromax hasn't announced or hinted about the new A70 smartphone, we believe its launch could take place anytime in the coming weeks. Physically, the new A70 looks like a mashup of Google Nexus One and HTC Desire smartphones.
Micromax A70 will have 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display. The A70 will have Android 2.2 running comfortably. There's no word on the internal memory as yet. The A70 will support 3G and will also offer Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP connectivity.
At the back is a 5 megapixel autofocus camera and on the front is a VGA camera for video call.
Specifications - 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen, 320X 480 pixels resolution - 3G HSDPA, quad-band GSM - Android 2.2 Froyo - 5.0 MP Camera (2592x1944 Pixels) with Auto Focus, 0.3 MP front VGA Camera (640x480 Pixels) - External memory up to 32GB - Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Wi-Fi hotspot - Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP - 3.5mm Audio Port - 1450mAh battery pack
Micromax has given us many things we wanted like touchscreen, qwerty keyboard, and even low-cost Android. But, important part of Android experience is to install custom ROM. As Micromax is manufactured by some obscure manufacturers, and does not release source code, it is difficult get or create a custom ROM.
pros: sensitive touch screen, wifi / USB hotspot, fast response, features
cons: camera quality
overall, awesome VFM. Go for it if your budget is less than 10,000 INR without thinking twice

Hi Samir Makwana,
The specs sheet in gsmarena shows that touchscreen technology is capacitive(great thing actually)........
Hi Ankush G,
can you just go to the source link and check whether there's any info about the processor?.........no, there is no info.........
Thank you.........
Harsha, thanks but no thanks....
i assume techtree isn't sharing only syndicated news stories. anyways...the point i made was pretty clear.. a comparison with the olive android phone where they did mention the processor speed...... isn't that a basic info when you are talking of a smart phone configuration ??? am sure Samir Makwana must have surely done that bit of desk research before writing a review.... the processor speed is something very basic which shouldn't be ideally missed out :)
Hi Ankush G,.....
This is not a review and the mobile is not yet officially announced.......and the olive mobile you are talking about is officially announced, so they TT has all the tech specs.........But it would have been great if TT has collected more info about this mobile before they post about it, instead of just posting basic specs and an image.........I hate that Samir Makwana hasn't corrected his typo even after i pointed it out........
All things are good but why why why they have not provided a flash with 5 megapixel camera . It could have been the best and cheapest android phone with all features.
Guys... This's getting capacitive touch screen hopefully.. There is lot of confusions about the touch screen. Look at all other specs(Froyo, 5.0 MP Camera, HVGA display lot more). looks a mid range Android phone. Y shud it go wid the old resistive type??
I dont know why but techtree looks to be favoring this micromax model.... just two posts later i can see a olive handset and the first thing they've mentioned there is the processor speed.
And for this one, there isnt any reference to the processor..... either its a problem for consistency in the news stories or else its purely creating better impression for certain brands !!!
An android phone with price tag of 8k having front camera and 5MP back camera. Phones like Galaxy 3,5 LG optimus(and many more) lack the front video calling camera. Yes the Resistive screen is a big setback.
. Watch out micromax....after samsung it would be you who would be sued ...dont copy the nexus.....nevertheless...i am interested in knowing the internal memory of this phone ....also the processing speed... :D
Wow!! this is Exciting...have used Miromax in the past ..and have not been disapponited....if it is launched at the price band..mentioned..voila...would be great..and good to see..micromax geeting out of that flimsy...320 x 240 resolution....
