In June 2010, Olive Telecom launched India's first 3G Android tablet Olive Pad for Rs. 25,990 when the country was yet to see its first official tablet. From today, Olive Pad VT100 would be available for purchase at a web-only price of Rs. 21,500 from shopping.olivetelecom.in. For that price, you also get free transit insurance which is important and a bunch of other goodies.

India got to see the Samsung Galaxy Tab in November 2010 and the Apple iPad in late January 2011. However, the price-conscious Indian audience is a bit reluctant to splurge on a tablet that costs as much as a feature PC or an entry level laptop.

This web-only offer of Olive Pad VT100 comes with the following goodies:
  • Bonus 16GB Memory card
  • Free lifetime subscription to MapmyIndia worth Rs2500
  • Free 6 months subscription to Zenga TV
  • Free Leather case worth Rs. 1,500

Olive Pad VT100 has a 7-inch touchscreen WVGA (800x480) display and comes with Google Android 2.2 Froyo loaded on it. Packing a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor, this tablet has mere 512MB internal memory. At the back rests a 3-megapixel camera. It comes with a VGA camera in the front for video calling that is powered using built in microphone and speakers.

Supporting 3G Networks, the Olive Pad also features Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), G-Sensor, E-Compass, and GPS. Physical connectivity options include 3.5mm audio port, Mini-USB port, micro-SD card slot and SIM card slot.

We haven't tested the Olive Pad at our test labs yet but as soon as we get our hands on one, we'll let you know our thoughts on the same.

Fraud product. Have anyone tried to get an updated Map for your MapMyIndia subscription that comes with olivepad? They claims that it is a life time subscription with no update for software and maps. I contacted mapmyindia and they gave me these information. They assured that it will work for lifetime. What a fraudulent statement by olive! A life time subscription with no map & software updates. You can check this with mapmyindia. Don't they know the meaning of subscription. Worst product i ever came across in my life. A total waste for money.

I have done all those things that you've mentioned. I must say Olivepad is EXCELLENT! Despite of mal-handling on two occasions it started working perfectly! Battery time is low indeed but it is not a fraud product. I am using it and it is good.

worth it for all the money. I had a pretty nasty experience with the olivepad. But yet I have to give it 10 out of 10. Now it all depends on ur requirement. Did you know for example that the USB cable of samsung galaxy tab does not charge it. Or that there is some dumb guy who can forget about putting dual speakers on ipad1. Olivepad is not the fastest, largest, lightest, but It is a best all round product I have seen in a long time.

I have just purchased Olive Pad a few days ago from Flipkart.com. The website is excellent and so is the product. I would prefer extremely affordable Indian Olive Pad to Samsung or Apple iPad. All negative reviews about Olive Pad are written by some jealous people. Just buy it with eyes shut cause you can get fast internet, decent photos, it can be very well used as phone, as a navigator and the list is endless. Jai Hind!!

1. Have you ever tried to get an update for your mapmyindia lifetime subscription? 2. Have tried any flash websites? 3. Have you compared your battery backup as per olive's statement? 4. Can you use your olivepad smoothly with charger connected? 5. Have you compared the touchscreen of olivepad to a galaxytab or any other touch screen mobile 6. Have you watched any movies in your olivepad? If you have done any of these things, you will

Well I would never bet my money on a device like iPad which is way to bulky to carry, way to wide to type and way to expensive and still doesn't offer me to makes calls. Even the 3G version requires a Micro SIM and can only be used in data transfer and not for calling purpose. I believe OlivePad with so much reduced price is a wonderful deal. And it supports both 3G and normal phone callings. OlivePad just rocks and is the most affordable android tablet available. And with 375gms weight it's the lightest 3G tablet (source:http://www.olivetelecom.in/laptop/olivepad/)

though it is offering goodies and reduced its price, still it is a costlier deal. For Rs. 6300 more, you get a wifi 16 GB ipad itself !! The price of olive pad should be around Rs. 18000 along with all the goodies that it is offering now and also with an option to update to android 2.3 or 3.0 !!!!
