Just a day before Mobile World Congress 2011 starts in Barcelona, LG has made its Optimus 3D smartphone official. Along with Optimust 3D, LG will also show the new Optimus flagship devices - Optimus Pad, Optimus 2X and Optimus Black devices. New Optimus 3D P920 smartphone comes with dual-core 1GHz microsprocessor and sports 4.3-inch display. LG has promised glasses-free 3D on the Optimus 3D using dual lens camera.

New Optimus 3D will join the Android 2.2 Froyo update running Optimus Black and Optimus 2X - all would be upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Although LG hasn't specified about the Android OS version on Optimus 3D, I assumed it to be Froyo since it was default for 2X and Black handsets as well. Flaunting a bit 4.3-inch display that would easily support WSVGA 800x480 pixel resolution, the dual lens would aid the smartphone to show 3D imagery on that display.

According to the official press release, the Optimus 3D would also be capable of recording 3D content with the help of those dual-lens camera. LG has packed dual-core 1GHz OMAP4 microprocessor along with dual-memory architecture. Touting to carry four times more video decoders to power the 3D content display as well as recording. The image sensor capacity is yet to be known.

Optimus 3D has HDMI out port for connecting it HD TV and also bears DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) certification for media transfer with compliant electronics.

We shall update this space soon with detailed specifications, pricing and availability.
