The majority not interested in tablets at all, followed by people waiting for the iPad 2
Now that the first iPad has finally shown face in the country, we asked people about their buying decision regarding this device that brought along a new revolution in the tablet market. Not so surprisingly, only 5 percent of voters said that now that the iPad is officially selling here with bill and warranty, they'd pick one up. 4 percent of the audience couldn't wait for this to happen, so they said they already have one that's either imported from another country or purchased here from the grey market.
A considerable 30 percent audience are doing a smart thing by waiting for the iPad 2, which is due to launch (at least in U.S.) in the coming months. Next, 28 percent respondents said they'd prefer not biting the iFruit and rather prefer a non-Apple tablet, and from what we've seen so far, I don't think choice is going to be a problem.
Here's the most interesting part of the survey, a majority of 33 percent said they aren't interested in tablets at all. These are the kind of guys that are probably satisfied with the typical smart-phone and laptop/desktop PC, and don't feel the need for that in-betweener device. But then, it wouldn't hurt to know what a tablet can do for you now, would it?
It's Apple's loss really... Meanwhile the Motorola XOOM has exciting specs and should be the one to look out for...Screw apple... they create availability issues to stir up demand... they are going to realize soon that they're not the only ones who can create a desirable product... the others are catching up already and yes...people are paying more attention to what's under the hood... so Apple better smarten up now before they lose the advantage.
Apple doesn't care for the Indian market. The launch of iPhone 5 is 4 months away & still the iPhone 4 isn't available in India, 7 months after its launch... while its being sold in over 70 countries worldwide! The Indian market isn't in the reckoning, as far as Apple products are concerned. Strange, considering India's one of the biggest mobile phone markets in the world. Steve Jobs must think we're all snake charmers and elephant riders here in India. The iPad 2 will launch soon and we won't get to buy it till 2012...
How many people did you ask? What was the age group? Can you give us some more information about the survey...
Without that this doesn't make any sense at all?
You can see the number of people who voted for a particular option right next to the percentage, right below the graph. What good will come out of knowing what age group was involved? Techtree serves to people from the age 8 to 88...all are welcome to vote
They're probably doing the smart thing by not playing into the hands of this hydra headed "technology" monster thingie..After all its the Indian audience thats mostly been the participants in this survey.Believe it or not, traces of spiritualism and non-materialistic attitude still persist in us.Which is why you wont see the average indian consumer making a blind run for such luxuries(following the definition laid down in Economics) . We have other agenda which are a tad more important. Like saving up for the dark days ahead when the entire indian Economy comes crashing down..or coping with the exponential inflation :)
