The last article in this series was all about pimping your gaming rig with bleeding edge graphics from the PC titles till date. This time consoles get all the love, with this feature chronicling eye candy games you can buy for your consoles. By console eye candy, we of course mean the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and not the Nintendo Wii. Why? This is all about unmitigated graphical might, and because you don't bring a knife to a gunfight.

God of War III (PS3)

Certain things are beyond debate, like Kratos' unlimited badassery and the path breaking graphics of God of War III. While you may argue that the graphics are just as good, if not better than Uncharted 2, the entire scale of fighting massive titans and the frenetic pacing of the gut wrenching violence amps it all to the power of ten.

The stylized cinematic narrative of the game is brought to life with interactive environments in all their soft bloomed splendor. The high quality textures, anti aliasing, motion blur effects and the dynamic lighting bring Krato's epic slaughter through the Greek pantheon alive in ways that can put most PS3 games to shame.

Unreal Engine 3 may be awesome but the developers using it seem to take a very standard approach. Most of the UE3 games I've seen - Bioshock, UT3, GoW, Batman AA - over-use bloom and shaders which make objects and characters look like they were slathered in vaseline. Borderlands was an exception but the gameplay missions sucked so hard I lost interest some 30min after I fired it up.
