Packs a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that supports 560x960 pixel resolution
Motorola DROID X successor codenamed Daytona has broken the hell loose and has showed up with Verizon branding. Hot Hardware reported that the Daytona DROID X2 smartphone will sport dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra T20 chip to power the 4.3-inch touchscreen bearing device. Running Google Android 2.2 Froyo update, this smartphone would be eligible for the Gingerbread richness. Expect this phone to be shown at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona starting February 14.
The DROID X2 (or X 2?) carried Verizon branding so we assume that once again, it will remain to be Verizon exclusive. However, we're yet to see if it will support the mobile operators LTE networks or not.
The DROID X2 has a 4.3-inch screen just like the DROID X but supports 560x960 pixel resolution as opposed to 480 x 854 in the DROID X. This means its display quality will be crisper. Internally, the DROID X2 will house dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra T20 processor to speed up the Google Android 2.2 Froyo. Let's hope that this smartphone is upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
For imaging, the DROID X2 offers an 8 megapixel camera that is capable of recording 720p HD videos. Of course there's Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI port and DLNA network based streaming.
Being Verizon branded, this smartphone's destiny might be limited just to U.S. regions, unless Motorola has other plans to make it a world edition just like the company did with the DROID 2 Global smartphone. If that is the case, we're in for a ball! Nonetheless, we shall wait for official word for Motorola.
