Sony Ericsson's heavily anticipated PlayStation phone indeed is a reality. The phone has been already leaked by Chinese forum IT168 and also got dismantled. Now Engadget gets an exclusive preview of the same PlayStation phone which might be branded as Xperia Play.

Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play is indeed codenamed ZEUS and carries model number R800i as per its Bluetooth SIG certification. However, I couldn't find the R800's Wi-Fi certification listing and hence believe that Wi-Fi in Engadget's Xperia Play didn't work well. Xperia Play will come with 4-inch multi-touch screen powered by BRAVIA Mobile Engine and supports 854x480 pixel resolution.

Internally, Xperia Play houses 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset that is coupled with Adreno 205 graphics chip. Together, the processor and graphics hardware offer amazing speeds with 512MB RAM to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. Thanks to the 5 megapixel Exmor imaging sensor, the Xperia Play is capable of recording decent videos at 800x480 by default and we hope that 720p HD would be enabled when the phone launches officially.

Xperia Play smartphone codenamed Zeus is expected to be shown at the Mobile World Congress 2011 starting February 14. However, there's a buzz that Sony Ericsson will make this smartphone available only by September-October.
