Will sport 9.7-inch touchscreen, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU and a front facing camera
Even since HP acquired Palm, winds of WebOS tablet rumors have been blowing constantly. PreCentral received exclusive documents containing detailed plans and specifications of the HP Palm Topaz Slate tablet. HP Palm Topaz tablet would sport a 9.7-inch touchscreen Gorilla Glass display and house 1.2GHz Qualcomm mobile processor. There was no price mentioned in the documents but we can assume it would be competitive as compared to the Apple iPad.
In April 2010, an internal HP document comparing HP Slate with Apple iPad was leaked. HP hasn't canned the plans to compete closely with Apple iPad even after HP Slate 500 tablet was launched last year. Now, the exclusive details of the Topaz tablet indicate that HP Palm is pulling up socks to compete with the Apple iPad and other tablets in the market.
HP Palm Topaz's specifications are listed below:
Processor: Dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 at 1.2GHz

HP Palm Topaz will have twin Scorpion Cores bearing Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 chipset that has an integrated Adreno 220 GPU. Nvidia logo was also spotted in the details but there's no confirmation on whether HP Palm will release Nvidia Tegra SoC chip powered tablet or not.
Topaz will support Touchstone v2 inductive charging but won't support the current generation Touchstone charging. Also, the Touchstone v2 would do more than just wireless charging. This includes sharing images, links, video, contacts, audio-video streaming, printing and game play - all done wirelessly. Along with that, HP also plans to integrate cloud-based services for photos, music, and storage for the Topaz tablet. Apparently, Palm will have to deliver cloud-services supporting version of WebOS for Topaz.
The specifications of the tablet look quite convincing but lack of a rear-panel camera makes us wonder whether HP Palm too is working on an Apple FaceTime competitor. Microsoft is already reported to be working on one for smartphones.
