Flaunts 3.5-inch HVGA display, 800MHz CPU and Android 2.2 Froyo richness
Last week, we reported about the Samsung GT-S5830 Galaxy S Mini handset that resembles the iPhone 4. Now we have the full specifications of the phone, thanks to the Thai website MXphone.com. According to MXPhone, the Google Android 2.2.1 Froyo running Samsung GT-S5830 would be sold in India, and it would be called Galaxy Cooper. For the rest of the world, excluding a few South-Asian countries, this smartphone would be branded as Galaxy Ace. Samsung Galaxy Cooper/Ace GT-S5830 would be sold in Thailand for 10,900 Bahts and hence it's safe to assume its Indian price to be around Rs. 17,000.
Bearing model number GT-S5830, Galaxy Cooper/Ace will be a step higher version of Galaxy 3 GT-S5800/GT-S5801 model. Samsung Galaxy S measures 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm, while the freshly surfaced Galaxy S5830 measures 59.9x112.4x11.5mm. However, there is merely 6 grams of difference in the weight of both smartphones. Galaxy S weighs 119g while Galaxy S5830 weighs 113g. Samsung Galaxy Cooper GT-S5830 comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA (320x480) capacitive touchscreen. Physically it resembles a toned down version of Apple iPhone 4.
Under the hood, GT-S5830 will run an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227-1 Turbo processor that has been used in Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro handsets. As of now there is no detail on how much RAM it will carry. With a mere 150MB on board memory, Samsung packs a 2GB microSD card and one can add up to 32GB microSD card for additional storage.
Galaxy Cooper will run Google Android 2.2.1 Froyo version with Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz 3.0 UI layered on top of it. I can safely presume that this phone would be upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread but that would be confirmed only when the smartphone releases officially. For good quality imaging, Samsung has packed a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED Flash. It would be nice if it can record 720p HD videos as well but that detail hasn't been mentioned in its specifications.
Supporting quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks, this phone will offer up to 7.2Mbps speed for HSDPA data connections. Apart from that, GT-S5830 has Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 2.1 support too. Yes, the phone does offer FM Radio (RDS), which will please a lot of radio crazy Indians.
Galaxy Cooper GT-S5830 will integrate Gmail, Social Hub, Google Maps (Latitude, Places and Navigation in Beta) and Android market. This smartphone will also include interactive input method SWYPE on its Android keyboard. For location based services, the phone will pack Google Maps package usable with A-GPS on the phone.
