Your Mom Will Hate Dead Space 2

If you have read our Dead Space 2 preview, you already know how ultra-violent this game is. As is the norm, the popular media and various governments across the world are sure to blame the failures of society and parenting on the convenient scapegoat that is the gaming industry. It is therefore a foregone conclusion that Dead Space 2 will be banned in Germany and Australia, and then be blamed for the next high-school massacre.
They say, any kind of publicity is good publicity, and EA seems to have taken this adage quite seriously. EA's marketing blitz for Dead Space 2, in fact, takes this negativity in its stride with an unabashed campaign that prides the fact that 'your mom will hate' Dead Space 2. This is literally expressed in the upcoming horror game's viral promos featuring reaction videos of scandalized mothers as they gasp at the carnage in Dead Space 2. EA even has a website titled - you guessed it right - 'Your Mom Hates This' to that effect.
The original Dead Space was notable for taking a dig at the Church of Scientology with its Church of Unitology plot element. This time around, Dead Space 2 borrows from the hugely popular viral videos that flooded youtube, featuring the reaction of a grandmother forced to watch the infamous 2 Girls 1 Cup video. Check out both the videos to see where EA drew its inspiration from. But whatever you do, curb your curiosity on the second video, because it's a rabbit hole you don't want to go down.
