    Cowon X7 Review

Prasad Naik, Jan 13, 2011 1522 hrs IST

The X7 is a bit of a disaster

Plenty of storage space, great audio quality, built-in loudspeaker, Bluetooth wireless headphone support, great audio format support, phenomenal battery life

Thick, bulky design, unimpressive display, no HD video playback, oddly placed controls, unintuitive UI, poor video format support, slow image gallery, proprietary USB cable, low max volume, FAT32 formatting restricts file transfers over 4GB

After the launch of the iPod touch, the market was flooded with several touchscreen enabled multimedia players. Cowon themselves have made quite a few of them. But all these models use flash based storage, which means they usually hit the ceiling at 64GB, as far as storage space is concerned. Cowon has now come up with the X7, which uses a 160GB micro drive, so that you no longer have to think twice before transferring data to your player. It also has a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth headphones support, built-in loudspeaker and Cowon's JetEffect 3.0 and BBE+ sound enhancement features. Let us see how it performs in the real world.

Even if the player was brilliant why would people spend on a piece of shit that costs 17500 and is no superior than a cellphone that costs the same and can do a lot of other things too. Wont anyone go for a good droid phone? The product makes no sense at all thanks to the pricing

Some people require excellent sound quality unavailable from 95% of the players out there..

Sounds like its an excellent sounding audio player with a poor user interface. Since no-one has reviewed a better sounding player as of Aug 2011, it still has merit if you require excellent sound quality.

I actually like the cowon X7. I think the reviewer was honest, but missed the point of this device. Cowon considers this a music device, that happens to support the occasional movie and some photos. It's strengths are all music related. Cowon is offering a device that has a large storage capacity for the user's entire music library, and one that plays music extremely well. The only other large capacity MP3 player on the market is the iPod Classic. The iPod classic is a great device but not for people who don't want to use iTunes. This is a device that can store a massive amount of music, and allow you to carry it around with you easily.

How Was this reviewed when you did not have the product with you ? To emphasis there is no live pic of player , seems like all have been picked up from Product Website . Why take the pain to review ??

Because I wasn't aware they had the review on the website as well. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered writing it.

Thank you. I'm not denying the importance of photographs of the actual review sample in a review. But we were unable to take them in time. That does not mean we won't be updating the review later and adding them.
