Pre-orders for Razer's Xbox 360 controller derivative start from January 17
One of the pioneers of gaming grade controllers, Razer has been synonymous with high end gaming gear. When it decided to foray into specialized console controllers, Razer did the smart thing and built upon the best controller in business - the Xbox 360 controller. The Onza is the culmination of Razer's effort in improving the Xbox 360 controller to aid the growing breed of professional console gamers.
Razer Onza comes in two flavours - the standard Onza and the Tournament Edition. The gamepad is meant for the Xbox 360 console, but some CES reports say that it can be plugged into the PC as well with the extra long 15ft cable. Like all Razer products, it features rubberized surface and the same tactile click found on its mice, which should offer some great tactile feedback and agility. The D-pad has been the Achilles heel of the X360 gamepad, and Razer fixes it with discrete buttons for each direction.
The best feature, however, is the adjustable resistance on both analogue sticks, so you can go from a loose setting for high speed assault to a tighter tension for precision aiming. The Tournament Edition gets extras like braided wire, adjustable resistance on the analogue sticks, and two fully programmable multi-Function Buttons. The Tournament Edition costs $49.99 (Rs. 2,250 approx.) and the regular one costs $39.99 (Rs. 1,800 approx.), and both will be available for pre-order from January 17.
