One is a cheap non smartphone, the other is a smartphone that supports blazing Internet speeds
HTC has unveiled one of its non smartphones, HTC FreeStyle, which runs the Qualcomm Brew MP OS with HTC's Sense UI on the front, at CES 2011.
The FreeStyle will use a 3.2-inch capacitive screen of HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) resolution, which we think is much better than the Wildfire's lowly 320 x 240 pixels stretched in that same size. It will also have GPS, Wi-fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and an FM Radio.
Although Taiwanese maker HTC's portfolio mostly consisted of phones running smartphone OSes made by other companies like Google and Microsoft, they did have one regular phone in their line-up last year. Ironically named as the 'HTC Smart', this inexpensive handset ran Qualcomm's Brew OS on the inside with HTC's Sense User Interface that we're used to on HTC Android phones. But it wasn't too impressive, as competitors offered better phones at cheaper prices. HTC FreeStyle seems to be a follow up to the HTC Smart.

If you choose not even to be in the same room with a non smartphone, then feast your eyes on the Inspire 4G. It's basically a Desire HD with a S-LCD display instead of a typical LCD panel. Oh and yes, with 4G network compatibility. People in India can close their eyes right now, as we're just about getting to know 3G better there days.
For all those people hopeful of jumping on the 4G bandwagon, this is what you'll get - a 800 x 480 pixel 4.3 inch display, 1GHz processor, 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash etc. Now tell me this, how come a phone that supports a 4G network does not get a front-facing video-call camera? Wasn't the EVO 4G popularized for its crystal-clear video-chat abilities? This kind of short-changing for a phone of supposedly high-end stature does not impress us.
Honestly, we think HTC's showcase doesn't seem to be as amazing as the Motorola's. Even Samsung is doing a fair job. What do you think?
Hi Rohan,
A little correction. I guess u know that 4G network refers to WiMax and LTE. We already have WiMax available in India through BSNL. but as u referred to 4G in general.. i felt u have forgotten about this
