I own a Panasonic DMC-TZ10 and completely thrilled with it specially its low light capabilities and HD video with optimized file size. It also has inbuilt GPS which recognizes places fairly well. I got it from US where it is known as ZS7 plus dicapac kit for underwater photography and 16 GB class 10 card. The entire deal was for less than 15 k. It is the best travel zoom camera that money can buy. Here in India, the camera alone costs more than 22k and is not a value for money deal.

I own a Canon SX20 IS and proud to say ..this is best camera one can have at this price (Got from US for 17200 Rs). It has 20x Optical zoom (80X when combined with digital), Shoots HD videos that will put your best camcoder to shame, Image quality is awsome when you learn some personal settings, Swing view screen is a boon tht can rotate 270 degrees. Above all..it has all the practical features onw would look in a point to shoot camera..rest of others can just claim

I notice that you mentioned that buying cameras with a CCD sensor is a negative point as compared to those with CMOS sensors. This is a ridiculous statement as CCD sensors have gone through a lot of development and are still considerably better than CMOS sensors in most cases. CMOS technically speaking does have the potential to produce better images than CCD sensors but its not perfected yet and only the very high end cameras having CMOS sensors have a noticeably better image. The main advantage of CMOS sensors presently is that there are better for Burst modes. 500gms or thereabouts is actually a postive point for superzoom cameras as the weight helps to stablise the camera thereby improving your chances of a blurfree image. People should not be given the impression that the additional weight is a negative factor. ISO 1600 for all practical purposes is more than enough. Go above that and the image quality goes for a toss!

I do agree with Rohit... there are two models WB650(GPS+AMOLED Screen) WB600(No GPS and LCD screen.) These cameras offer 15 x zoom and full manual control and all other mandatory goods like 720p video recording and all in this category! WB600 costs around 13k which is very good value for money considering it gives full manual control and a 15x zoom!!!!

I bought the WB650 after consulting the dpreview guide and found it to be excellent. It disappoints a bit on low light situations but that was expected .
