Also, Facebook is named as the "best place to work"
Yesterday, the prestigious TIME magazine released its choice for the TIME Person of the Year accolade - Mark Zuckerberg. You better know the name of this man, as there's a one-twelfth chance that you might be using his product. We're of course talking about Facebook - the social networking mega-site that seeks to connect people over the internet. The article talks about Zuckerburg's journey from being a 19 year old college student at the Harvard University, where he started it as a pet-project, to the current success of Facebook. The recently released movie 'The Social Network' captures the same story of Mark Zuckerberg.
As of today, Facebook has 550 million registered users. One out of every twelve people on the planet has a Facebook account. It's a double-whammy moment for Mark, who not only has a personal recognition but it is also reported side-by-side that Facebook is named as the "best place to work". A part of this is encompassed in the TIME's write-up where it states that there aren't any special offices for people higher-up in the company; there aren't any cubicles as well.
This is probably one of the rare times when Facebook is actually in news for good. It otherwise has been thrashed on many a regular occasion - from unlawful user data usage to deleted photos still being accessible among a lot more. According to a survey, people don't trust Facebook but cannot help themselves in avoiding its usage.
Way to go Mark, you have created one heck of an addictive substance.
"though TIME's editors who choose the actual Person of the Year reserve the right to disagree"
Why have a Poll in the First place , when your vote doesn't matter?
How lame! What kind of article is this? You are supposed to be reporting objectively or is it some kind of a fashion magazine? For any reader who has been thorough with his or hers political knowledge know that the TIME Person of the Year should have gone to Julian Assange.I mean, lets face it, the guy has changed history for all we know! Lets face it, the fourth estate is not safe from lobby's and TIME has suffered a lot on the circulation front. They need the money to carry on.I wouldnt be too surprised if it turns out some guy like Joe Leiberman put pressure not to make a hero out of Julian Assange.Either ways this sucks big time.I am no longer a reader of TIME. Maybe if Julian Assange gets a movie made he can make it on the list next year, eh?
@jayakrishna..
Dude, world doesnt work on your personal likes and dislikes and going by every objective or logic which you mentioned ,Mark is appropriate for the choice ,Julian may have the greatest story to tell in politics ,but Mark is the person who has touched every sphere of human life from politics to science ,think about this next time you login in to your facebook account
P.S -You dont have to announce the world that you are not reading Time.[You are not the only person reading it]
Something is wrong with you and you need to check it really soon, CAN'T YOU READ!!!!!!!!!!! and really for someone who has changed History, don't you think he deserves it? Asides all that, whether or not you read TIME or buy it, you are just one in about 6 billion humans, so really who do you think cares
