The Zebronics Zeb-Station is a compact speaker system that can playback your music from a USB drive or an SD card and also has a built-in FM radio. The Zeb-Station also comes with a line-in input, so you can even connect it to a TV or DVD player.

front

The Zeb-Station has a very compact design and looks like an iPod dock. On the front it has a glossy mirror finished panel that houses all the controls and inputs. You can find a one line LED display that shows the elapsed time when playing an MP3 track, and the FM station frequency when playing the radio. The display, however, is too small and can display only seven characters at a time and hence cannot show important information such as track title.

display

Below the display is a large volume control button, but you can also press the dial and switch the function of the dial. You can make it adjust the bass, treble and scroll through equalizer presets. The dial is backlit by a cool blue light.   Below the dial are the controls for power, input source and playback controls. Below the controls are the SD card slot and a USB port.

On either side of the control panel you will find two four-inch full-range drivers. The speakers have bass reflex ports below the unit for each driver. The speakers are covered by a cloth grille and the top and sides have a wood finish, which along with the shiny front, lends some class to the otherwise boring design. On the back of the Zeb-Station is the line-in input and a fixed wire that acts as the FM radio antenna.

Just checked out a piece at a dealer. The line in was not functioning properly. I had attached an Apple Nano thru the RCA input. The volume was way below what a 30W RMS speaker shoud sound. The USB input was not reading the music from my Sony USB stick player. The volume knob was not smooth. The dealer has asked me to come back to demo another piece. Hoping it will work as reviewed by Techtree.

Am planning on placing my order for the Zeb-station. Wanted to know if it was loud enough to fill a medium size room. 30W of power from a regular system would normally be good enough to do this. I've read another article which said that it distorts at full volume. My listening would be mostly english jazz, slow music, easy listening (norah jones, neil diamond, dire straits, eagles, etc)... The midrange and highs need to be good for this kind of music with a bit of tight bass.

Oops! Sorry about that. I was probably feeling lonely when writing the review, hence the goof-up.

The driver size is 3 inch as given on Zebronics website & not 4 inch.
