Syncs desktop based Winamp, iTunes libraries and allows access to SHOUTcast radio stations
Winamp, the free multimedia player application, has announced new Winamp for Android App that lets users wirelessly sync music library over Wi-Fi. The Winamp for Android App is currently in its beta stage and would be available for Android 2.1 Eclair update running phones only. For using this app on your Android phone, you first need to download the Winamp 5.6 player on your desktop from here and install it. Then you can just sit back and stream the music on your computer to the phone using Wi-Fi.
Winamp for Android 0.9.2 beta App for Android 2.1 running phones lets users wirelessly sync the music library on Winamp desktop to the phone. New Winamp 5.6 for desktop allows syncing iTunes media libraries to the media player and eventually the Winamp for Android App can sync the same iTunes library as well. With the Winamp for Android app, users get the player controls right in their palms to play, pause and check out the track details. Tracks in a playlist can be shuffled using the same app.
You can add shortcuts or widgets to the homescreen of your Android phone. Avid Internet radio addicts can search, play and favorite over 40,000 Internet radio stations thanks to the SHOUTcast Radio feature. Scrobbling for Last.fm is automatically added if you've installed the Last.fm Android App on your phone.
This is not just a media player for Android but an app that will also allow you stream music from your computer wirelessly thus giving freedom from USB cable all the time. Winamp for Android 0.9.2 beta App is free and can be downloaded from Android Market. The app supports Brazilian Portuguese, English, French, German, Japanese, Polish, Romanian and Russian languages so far. Support for more languages will be added in future releases.
Can U kindly confirm the full functionality of the S/W?Is it to stream audio from Computer to the Mobile's earphones or can we control the playlist on the computer so that it behaves like a remote control for the Audio available on the PC[I.e Music playing on the Computer's speakers]?
"This is not a media player for Android but just an app that will allow you stream music"
Incorrect. This is a full fledged (well!) music player android and not just a media syncing/streaming app.
