Points to consider before you head out to buy a super zoom camera
A camera with powerful zoom function always tends to attract attention because you can shoot subjects situated very far away (and without the subjects knowing that you are shooting them). We have rounded up a few of such super zoom cameras for you today. In this article we will draw your attention straight to the point as to why you should or should not buy the camera.
Fujifilm FinePix HS10
Why to buy this camera?
Records high-speed movies at 1000 fps to capture events too fast for the naked eye and play them back in slow motion.

Can shoot macro at even 1 cm

Why not to buy this camera?
Heavy at 0.666 kg, so it is not very easy to hold it for long
According to several reviews i read online, the fight was between hs10 and fz40, and fz40 won by a minute margin. But again Panasonic is releasing another Lumix set, the fz100, which acoording to some is the best of all. I haven't found a very comprehensive review of it yet, but all i have heard are praises. So check that one out. I m not sure whether it is available in india or not.
After lots of research over the past few months this is what I feel is the best order preference for a Bridge Camera -
(hope it helps some make the decision)
1) HS10 (if you find proper focusing piece)
2) Panasonic Lumix (still one one of the best IQ)
3) Nikon Coolpix P100
4) Kodak and Sony
5) Canon
6) Olympus
Please dont hate reply. Buy what you like the best. :) Happy shooting!
HS10 has certain issues focusing, as I am thinking of returning mine. Been using it 2 months now. That is a camera defect too. There are incidents where many have faced faulty cameras do google that to find out. "HS10 problems".
Mine has a very low rate of getting acceptable shots. I did show it to some known professional photographers to make sure it wasnt my ignorance using the camera.
The camera built quality otherwise is nice and solid with a manual zoom, the best of it's kind. And dont forget a tripod people. At full zoom it is like impossible to get a steady shot without one.
I chose this camera over a D3000 nikon or Canon 1000D but it seems like a wrong decision today. Nothing beats even a basic DSLR and a nice zoom kit lens with macro, if one has enough dough to spend it. DSLRs are bit or tad heavier but worth it.
It is assumed that the reader is sane enough to decide for himself based on points mentioned in why to buy and why not to buy. If you still can't decide, then you are either a kid or a retard.
I thought the Nikon P100 has a dedicated button for High Speed Movie Shooting, so why is it written that it does not support this? Could you please verify this ????
Great article man. this is exactly what I had been looking for all around and all i could find were either DSLRs or the simple Digi-Cams.
Quick question though, which one of these do you believe have manual zoom, shutter speed and aperture configuration??
