We've avoided reviewing many Asus graphics cards in the past only because of their obnoxious pricing. It didn't matter how good the card was or what bundle it came with, the premium they charged wasn't really justified. This was a real shame since companies like MSI and Palit too had graphics cards with custom coolers, but were priced very competitively.
After Nvidia's GTS450 became a runaway hit for gamers on a budget, Asus seemed to have revised their pricing for the better and what better way to show this off than with the new GTS450. Today we have their ENGTS450 DirectCU TOP Edition which is their overclocked edition with a custom heat pipe cooler. The DirectCU cooler claims to run 20% cooler, thanks to a copper base that touches the core directly. The two 8mm heatpipes help transfer the heat onto the heatsink fins which is cooled by the fan. The card also features a 4-phase power circuit for more stability.
As you can see, this is the highest factory overclocked GTS450 we've reviewed so far, with a super high 925MHz for the core and the memory sits at 4000MHz effective. Next, let's take a good look at the card.
Bundle
The bundle is very basic. All you get is;
There aren't any port converters since Asus has provided all the ports by default.
