After dominating the high-end segment with their GTX460, Nvidia is back with a bang with the new mid-range graphics card called the GTS 450. You could think of this as a GTS 250 replacement since the pricing will be close to it. The GTS 450 uses a new core called the GF106, which is like a stripped down version of the GTX 460, in order to reduce the manufacturing cost. A lot has been cut down like the memory bus, shaders and ROPs to make this card cheaper to produce.
The ZOTAC card that we have today is an Amp Edition that comes with pretty good clock speeds. The core clock is boosted to 873MHz (stock is 783MHz) and the memory is bumped up to 4GHz (stock is 3.6GHz). ZOTAC has stayed true to its packaging and we get the same designed box. The packaging is nice and compact as the card itself isn't very big. At the price it's supposed to launch, the GTS 450 will take on the HD5770 and the HD5750. So let's see if it can deliver.
Bundle
Along with the driver CD, ZOTAC also bundles trial versions of GPGPU software like vReveal, nero Vision Extra, cooliris, xbmc and kylo. This is a good thing as it helps people become aware of the different GPU accelerated software out there, so they can make better use of the graphics card when not gaming.
