At the Tokyo Game Show, Sony has announced that ICO and Shadow of Colossus games will be released for PlayStation 3 console in spring 2011. Both are PlayStation 2 classics and would be released with the title name ICO and Shadow of Colossus: The Collection. The interesting part of these PS2 ports is that both the games would render at 720p HD resolution and also have stereoscopic 3D support.

Though you might take them as direct ports, developer Fumito Ueda and Team ICO Studio will remaster both PS2 classics to look better on PS3.  Both games would offer higher frame rates than the PS2 versions and bring the elements of the game into 3D perspective with 3D support on PS3. Sony did mention earlier this year that it will bring 3D support for PS3 through a firmware upgrade.

Ueda at the TGS presentation noted that the game would support widescreen resolutions as well. The developers will have to spend a good time optimizing the graphics, cleaning textures and offering better presentations.

The games, dubbed as The Collection, would be released on a single Blu-ray Disc in American as well as European markets. A slightly different and extended ending of the ICO game from European build would be added in this twin game collection.

Why have you included a picture of shadows of the damned in the Team ico article ? Think you got confused between shadow of the colossus and shadows of the damned...
