MTS, one of the newest players in the mobile networks segment, has launched a bunch of new phones in India. These phones are all priced between Rs. 4,999 and Rs. 13,500. They are Internet and more importantly, social networking friendly.
The three new handsets include the Buzz, the Alive and the Ivory. Let's now take a look at the specs of each of the phones.
MTS Alive The Alive is actually an OEM device manufactured by ZTE. It is a touchscreen handset featuring a 2.8-inch display, a 1.3 megapixel camera, support for various social networking websites and the capability to browse the Internet at speeds of up to 3.1Mbps.
The Alive also boasts of an accelerometer that would aid in motion sensor games and for controlling the screen orientation. The phone comes preloaded with the Opera Mini browser. It can also be used as a high speed modem which can connect to your PC and enable you to access the Internet on it, whilst on the move.
The Alive is priced at Rs. 6,000.
MTS Buzz Next, we have the Buzz which is actually a Micromax device from the inside. This phone is a dual SIM device boasting of a 2.4-inch display. Like the Alive, this one too is quite social networking friendly. There's a standard 1.3 megapixel camera at the rear. The phone also supports expandable memory. The QWERTY keypad layout should make it a good phone for messaging and e-mailing. The Buzz is targeted at young professionals and college students and for the price, would make a good first phone for many.
This dual SIM phone is a GSM +CDMA device and both the connections can remain active simultaneously. The MTS Buzz costs Rs. 4,999.
MTS Ivory As for the Ivory, this one happens to be a re-branded Fly handset. Like the other two phones, this one too is social networking ready. The Ivory is a Windows Mobile based smartphone and supports Microsoft Exchange Push email. This phone, like the Alive, happens to be a touchscreen - but has a larger, 3.2-inch screen. The Ivory supports Bluetooth with A2DP for wireless Stereo Music Streaming as well.
There is a decent 2 megapixel camera at the rear - with support for Video Recording and expandable memory up to 4GB. The Ivory will cost Rs. 13,500.

As for the tariff plans, MTS has designed limited and unlimited plans ranging from ones that cost Rs. 192 to Rs. 1,099 to suit most usage patterns.
