Now laptops will get DirectX 11, 3D Vision and Nvidia Optimus technology support
Over the weekend, Nvidia introduced seven new graphics processors for laptops and opened gates to play DirectX 11 based games on laptops. The GeForce 400M series graphics processors (GPUs) are the first batch GPUs designed with Nvidia Fermi architecture. Apart from that, the new Nvidia GeForce GTX 400M series GPUs also brings 3D experience with 3D Vision technology. Optimum performance by managing the battery life is promised with Nvidia Optimus technology that automatically switches between integrated graphics and discrete graphics as per system requirements.
The new breed of Nvidia GeForce 400M GPUs have been designed on the basis of Nvidia's next generation computational graphics architecture Fermi aka the GF100 GPU chip. For the best High Definition video and graphics playback experience, the new GeForce 400M GPUs support Microsoft DirectX 11 APIs. So you can play all PC games released till date. Also, with support for 3D Vision technology, users can enjoy 3D content.
These new GeForce 400M GPUs are bifurcated into models for enthusiast user level laptops and performance user level laptops. Top of the line GPUs for enthusiast segment include GeForce GTX 460M (192 CUDA cores) and GeForce GTX 470M (288 CUDA cores).
In the performance segment, Nvidia brings GT 445M, GT 435M, GT 425M, GT 420M and GT 415M GPUs. These new GeForce GT 400M series graphics chips serve as worthy upgrades.
Web surfers are lured with five times HD video uploads to popular video sharing sites like Vimeo and Facebook. Of course, these GeForce 400M series graphics processors bring support for PhysX, CUDA and Nvidia Verde support. Do note that the 3D vision technology will work only on the notebooks that have 120Hz LCD Display.
We can expect to see GeForce 400M series GPU based notebooks hitting the markets pretty soon.
