Features
The Officejet 4500 looks like most HP MFDs from the OfficeJet segment with its grey and black polymer body and the slanting control panel. Though it appears to be sturdy certain parts such as the cartridge bay door seem to be a bit flimsy. It is not quite as bulky as its bigger brother, and moving it around is not much of an issue, unlike most MFDs. This MFD uses thermal inkjet printing technology with one black and one tri-color cartridge. Unlike many of the devices in HP's more expensive range, this does not allow easy access to the cartridges via a sidedoor. Instead, you have to open the cartridge bay to get them replaced.

The ADF tray is different from other MFDs, it is quite unobtrusive, and yet is good enough to get the job done. It can hold up to 20 sheets of paper, which may be a little on the downside for a SoHo. We would have liked to see something upward of 50 to make it more usable in an office. The use of ADF is that you do not need to be present to manually feed paper to be scanned, copied or faxed when there is a multiple page task.
