Toshiba has recalled as many as 41,000 laptops in U.S. after widespread reports of overheating and even melting. The affected range of models are from its T130 Satellite line-up. Toshiba also posted a notification regarding the recall in its support form last week.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission which is monitoring these incidents adds that the issues are specifically related to "overheating and deforming the plastic casing area around the AC adapter plug". There were also reports of "minor burn injuries that did not require medical attention" and two reports of minor property damage.
In a statement on its website, Toshiba has clarified that the cause of the problem is a faulty DC-In harness and it has issued a BIOS update that would fix the issue. The update is already available for download on the Toshiba support site.
Here is the long list of affected Toshiba laptops - all from the T130 series:
I have got a TOSHIBA Netbook (N200).This also gets unusually
heated up while in use.
Is this also suffering with the same problems as T-130.
