Samsung, on the eve of the announcement of the Galaxy Tab, also revealed some of its smartphone related plans for the coming years. According to Reuters, Samsung has confirmed that Android and Bada will be its prime focus for the foreseeable future.
Another platform that Samsung is looking forward to is Windows Phone 7 with the company planning at least one phone based on Microsoft's new smartphone OS in the next few months. However, it is clear that Samsung would be concentrating more on Android and Bada based devices as made obvious be their recent launches.
As for Symbian, Samsung is still a board member of the foundation. However, it doesn't seem to be quite impressed with Symbian^3 and there is high possibility that it might skip Symbian^3 altogether and opt for Symbian^4 directly when it is released. Samsung also revealed that it currently doesn't see "visible demand" for the platform. The last Symbian device from Samsung was the Omnia HD released well over a year ago, in early 2009.
