Chinese mobile equipment manufacturing giant Huawei has announced the launch of its latest Android based phone.

The Ideos, as the phone is known happens to be a low-cost Android handset targeted at the user who is on the look out for a decent, not-so-expensive smartphone. The Ideos surprisingly runs Android 2.2 and boasts of full HSDPA 7.2Mbps support, Wi-Fi and navigation (GPS) support. Other features include a 2.8-inch 240x320 touchscreen, a 528 MHz processor and Bluetooth. The phone comes with a 3.2 MP autofocus camera minus flash at the rear that should suffice for decent daylight photography.

The Ideos is expected to be priced at around the $100 (Rs. 4,600 approx.) mark and should definitely be a crowd puller should the company launch it here in India.

Read @PCWorld that "The price($100) is what operators pay Huawei for the device, and it will then be up to them to decide what they charge their subscribers.

Quiet an irony Android is an open source OS yet all handsets based on it are insanely expensive . Only chinese can manufacture a cheap handset

it is due to the hardware requirement put by the google ......which lifts up cost of handset.. hope google soon come with adroid for low budget handset

Its called the Chinese engineering, You get the features equivalent to a fully loaded smart phone but in a price like this.I hope this phone to be launched anytime soon in India. Thanks Huawei.

Now thats what I love about Android. You get the features of smartphones that are 3-4 times more expensive. Not a Huawei fan though.
