Also starts a new social network for music called Ping
At the event held today, Apple also launched iTunes 10, which brings with it some key new features. First of all they have a new icon. Apple has replaced CD from the icon of the iTunes logo, which has been around for about ten years now, since iTunes is about to bypass CDs in sales. List view has now been slightly changed and in the album name column you also see the album art by default.
By far the biggest addition to iTunes 10 is the integration of a new social networking service called Ping, which lets you discover new music and know what others are listening to right now. Apple says it is like a combination of Twitter and Facebook for music. You can see other s profile and search for them and choose to follow them. When start following people, you get to know what they are downloading and you can choose to download that content too. You can post text, pictures and comment on other s posts or Like them. You can also send each other messages. Ping will not just be available on the desktop version of iTunes but on the iOS devices as well.
iTunes 10 is now available for download here for your Mac and PC.
