It is obvious that the company was hinting at Android
South Korean electronics giant LG seems to be very confident about Windows Phone 7 from Microsoft - to the extent that it believes that WP7 will outperform rivals like Android OS - soon after its launch.
In a recent interview with South Korean media persons, an LG official has revealed that the company expects Windows Phone 7 to outperform "two rival smartphone operating systems". Although the official didn't name any one specifically, it was clear that he is hinting towards Android. There is still doubt over the other platform in question. We guess, it could be anyone amongst BlackBerry, iOS or even Symbian.
LG has been seeing a lot of flip flops of late. Back in 2009, the company announced that it would launch as many as 20 Windows Mobile based smartphones - only a few actually made it to production. Soon after that, when the rest of the world was gripped in the Android Wave - LG announced only a few phones based on the platform. While LG largely ignored Windows Mobile back in 2009 after the revelation of WP7, the company seems to be excited about it and we have already seen quite a few prototype WP7 phones from LG. LG's first WP7 handset will sport a 3.8 inch display.
What do you think about LG's prediction? Will WP7 ever outdo the Android OS inspite of the headstart that Android already has.
I think LG is on the button - right timing, investment and focus. It has the potential to blow away the competition and redefine the smartphone market.
WP7 sure duz look interesting but i dont think its gonna deter me frm buying an ifone 4....btw i heard dat existing winmo 6.5 apps wud b incompatible wid wp7....can sum1 enlighten me on dis???
Yes I think WP7 can outperform the android os. LG are on a winner here because 90percent of the world still run windows. Android is good but is mainly for tekkies that like to use its open source platform to design or modify the program to suit their needs. 80 percent of the world is still basic to intermediate users so the operating system must be userfriendly and the only operating system that can provide that is the dominant system, WINDOWS.
Apple is good too but it has its disadvantages. Windows is the complete system. Steve Ballmer and the microsoft team need to capitalise on this opportunity and take it to the limit as did Bill Gates when the internet posed a real threat as the next big thing.Hail WP7!!
I am developing a few apps for the forthcoming Windows Phone 7 OS. And trust me it is going to be completely different when it is launched. Currently app developers are working with emulators and trust me the platform has been totally rewritten by MS and is very powerful.
By the time Windoze 7 is out, Android 3.0 will be released.
M$ can't make a decent desktop OS, could not do a decent mobile OS, what do you think windows 7 will be a winner?
I'm a Android user moved from Windoze 6.5 smartphone and loving it. M$, Nokia are still living in the 90's.
iPhone and Android are a decade ahead.
Android OS is an eye opener to all the current existing mobile operating systems. It has not only redefined what a mobile OS can do, but also outperformed many other OS. Only time will tell who is going to win, but as of now android lead by miles. Windows have yet not acheived a better screen quality after so much upgrades, lets see what win7 has in store for us.
