A fast processor with powerful graphics to be packed inside the 7-inch tablet
Samsung's next big thing - P1000 Galaxy Tablet is suddenly grabbing attention on the web. The firmware of the same has been leaked online. Folks at Engadget reported that the tablet is due to arrive with Vodafone UK contract. Along with that, more details about the tablet's specification have started pouring in. So far, we know that the tablet will run Android and will sport an AMOLED touchscreen, as reported by Samsung Firmware.
A screenshot of this Samsung Tablet listed on Vodafone UK's system has surfaced but no date of release has been confirmed yet. Maybe Samsung will officially show it at IFA 2010 in Berlin starting from September 3.
The most amazing part of this tablet is the 7-inch AMOLED display that will support 1024x600 WSVGA resolution. Samsung has packed 1GHz Hummingbird ARM11 Core S5PC110 microprocessor and PowerVR SGX540 GPU that runs in the heart of this Android 2.2 tablet. Yes, it's the same CPU and graphics chip that powers Galaxy S i9000 smartphone. In other words, it's an oversized Galaxy S smartphone sans telephony.
Other features of the tablet include Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Wi-Fi (802.11n), and FM tuner - that's interesting. Besides 3G network support, this tablet will also have GPS chip. It has twin cameras of which one on the back panel will have 2048x1536 maximum resolution.
The Galaxy Tablet will have DivX support with SRS audio sound for better video watching experience. Reading Hub will let you check out ebooks, buy and download them. On the other hand, we have heard the buzz about a smaller, 7-inch display bearing iPad by year-end or early next year.
Pricing would be one of the major factors that will decide the fate of Samsung Galaxy tablet whenever it will be launched.
