First generation iPhone and iPod touch devoid of this iOS 4.0.2 update
As promised, Apple has released new iOS firmware updates to fix the critical security hole post web-based jailbreak. New iOS 4.0.2 update for iPhone and iPod touch devices along with iOS 3.2.2 update for iPad was released. This firmware update isn't applicable to the first generation iPhone and iPod touch devices.
New jailbreakme.com jailbreak exposed critical PDF viewing vulnerability flow that we reported about earlier. Apple's new iOS 4.0.2 for all iPhone and iPod touch devices will fix the PDF based exploit. Musclenerd, iPhone Dev Team (iOS platform hackers), noted that the update still allowed jailbreaking devices using redsn0w 0.9.5 beta 5 for Mac OS X and Windows.
Even the iPad Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+3G models get a security fix with iOS 3.2.2 update. What really surprises us that despite being just security fixes, these updates weigh around 320MB! See if you find out any hidden feature (quite unlikely) in these updates.
To download this update, you need to hook your iOS running device to Mac or PC with iTunes 9.2.1 installed in it. Once connected, hit on Check for Update button and then do the needful.
