If you have been patiently awaiting the official arrival of Android 2.2 on your much loved next generation Android phone, looks like your prayers are about to be answered.

Folks over at AndroidSpin have reported that Android 2.2 (or the Froyo) is expected to arrive on major phones including the Motorola Droid, Motorola Droid X and the HTC Incredible next week. We don't have the dates yet - but something as close as next week is something we can settle for at this time!

The tipster who leaked this news reaffirms that this news is not a rumor - but then, as always we are wary unless an official comment on this one appears somewhere.

As soon as Froyo is out, HTC and Motorola is expected to roll out their official updates simultaneously. The tentative date for this is starting August 6.

Let's wait and watch and see how this one pans out.

The previous "leaked" date was July 13th. Froyo has been out for quite a while on the Nexus One. It's a matter for each manufacturer and carrier now. Most likely HTC and Motorola will roll out their updates at different times.
