The much anticipated 5-inch multi-touch supporting tablet - Dell Streak is set to arrive in later this month. Dell Streak is a unique mashup of smartphones and tablets to come in 5-inch size. The company updated Dell Streak's product page and also offered an option to pre-order the device.

Dell Streak has massive 5-inch WVGA TFT LCD 'Gorilla' glass screen (800x480) that will support multi-touch and is claimed to be damage resistant.  This tablet is claimed to support MPEG4 and H.264 videos as well which would look good on the 5-inch glass screen. Dell has put Google's Android OS with multi-touch support and also offered Microsoft Exchange support. Packing 1GHz Qualcomm's Snapdragon QSD 8250 processor, Streak has 512MB ROM, 512MB RAM and 2GB MicroSD for System Apps and files.

The Android OS will support multi-touch, multi-tasking and will feature Google Maps with navigation, text-to-voice, and turn-by-turn directions with Street-view. It will also feature WebKit based android browser. Streak also has a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash and a front facing camera for video chat. Dell has added integrated real-time support for Facebook and Flickr for uploading videos and photos from the device.

Apart from providing access to Android Market, Dell has also introduced its own App Store for downloading apps. For pre-orders, you'll have to sign-up and Dell will send you unique purchase link. You'll also get to purchase Plantronics Bluetooth headset for $1 only.

Dell hasn't specified the price of Dell Streak nor do we expect its world-wide availability by the end of this month unless Dell has other plans.

Usually don't comment here and was hoping for good things from techtree to improve the tech reporting scene locally, but this is outright shoddy reporting. As already commented by others, this is US only - and not pertinent to India. If nothing else, the $1 Plantronics headset offer should have provided some clue!

This seems to be applicable to USA. The staff member is reporting it as if its being launched for Indian market. What's wrong with you ?
