Nokia has announced a tie-up with Tata DoCoMo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices, to offer Nokia Ovi Life Tools to a larger base of consumers in rural and semi-urban India.
Nokia and Tata DoCoMo will collaborate to offer Nokia Ovi Life Tools services to all Tata DoCoMo subscribers. The service is designed to deliver news alerts in the fields of agriculture and education on schemes and other relevant information directly to thousands of users subscribed to it.
Nokia Life Tools Agriculture service is available across 18 states and in 11 regional languages, it offers consumers a choice of 2 plans. The basic plan at Rs. 30 per month, provides daily weather updates and relevant agriculture-related news, advice and tips. There is also a premium plan at Rs. 60 per month, which provides the closest market prices for three crops chosen by the subscriber, as well as weather information, news, advice and tips. Users can subscribe to their preferred educational service such as learn English, general knowledge or exam tips for Rs. 30 per month.
Nokia Life Tools supports 11 Indian languages - Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya and English.
Thanks NOKIA and TATA DOCOMO for helping rural people. I hope this will be the only better step for agriculture development in INDIA.
But don't you think the cost is somewhat high for rural rather than Semi-urban. A rural person per day income is 30Rs. Cutting ONE TIME food is freak able.
Nice move Nokia. Good they are helping the farmers. They are losing out in the low end and high end market. Please release phones with latest technology available. We need more phones like N8 in the market. ofcourse somethin better than S^3 which is being bruited to stop..
