Says Google has achieved everything that it wanted to with the Nexus One
Right from the day Google announced the Nexus One, rumours of its successor had already begun. The Nexus Two, as it was christened, was expected to come with even more powerful hardware than its predecessor apart from having more features.
However, six months down the line, Google seems to think differently. In a recent interview with the Telegraph , Google CEO Eric Schmidt has confirmed that we wouldn't be seeing any Nexus One versions any more. He is of the opinion that Google has achieved everything that it wanted to with the Nexus One, and hence the company doesn't feel the need for a Nexus Two.
To quote the man himself:, "The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn't have to do a second one. We would view that as positive but people criticised us heavily for that. I called up the board and said: Ok, it worked. Congratulations we're stopping. We like that flexibility, we think that flexibility is characteristic of nimbleness at our scale."
Although this might come as a shocker to many, existing Nexus One users might be slightly happy because they are probably holding a piece of history in their hands - a rare phone that was made for Google by HTC! The other thing that comes to our mind is regarding the poor man's Nexus One that Google was supposed to be designing for India. Whatever happens to that now?
Nexus One look does not look good, so I do not want to buy. Have been looking forward to Nexus Two, but now is "No Nexus Two", Isn't "Google Nexus Two"!
With the above news in context, will you people still prefer to buy Google Nexus One.
I am planning to buy it from US, is this wold be a good idea? I didn't change my mobiles often. I change them only when they are not serving the purpose.
Please suggest me, can I go for this still ?
