    Nokia E52

Prasad Naik, Jun 25, 2010 1531 hrs IST

Impressed us with its good performance, features and compact design

Slim design, good display quality, comfortable keypad, solid build quality, excellent audio quality, extensive connectivity options

Poor camera, frustrating T9 dictionary, D-pad rim lacks a tactile feel, sluggish gallery

The new E52 is the latest E-Series phone to hit the streets and packs in all the features of the E72 sans the full QWERTY keypad into a more compact and pocketable design. We took it for a spin to see how well it performs.

i bought this phone last week in patna by paying rs 11950 all tax paid .the build quality of phone is very good . it's mail account feature , has completly substituted my laptop usage . i can check mail , i can trade stocks, i can browse internet everything on it effortlessly. the sound quality through supplied earphones was not good , but when i tweaked it through equalizer , it was good . now waiting for 3g services , which will be launched by november, to use in this phone. completly satisfied with it .

this hangs and goes dead... so wait till u get this problem and then dont waste u r time on repairs... NOKIA is cheating people by selling this faulty series phone... there are a lot of reported issues and its actually a discontinued model but still pushing and cheating customers

All those who are using E52 and have problems dont waste time in going to Nokia care... all customer care people only tell you that they have updated software and you will find same problem again in few days. Just dump the handset (if you can afford to rather than wasting time with NOKIA absolutely unfriendly systems on repairs) or insist on getting your model changed to something better. I have been struggling to use brand new E 52 phone and from day one. After payments its more with Nokia than with me... all the time they are saying that they are repairing it... What the hell.. Nokia, its shame to sell known faulty models to customers and do R& D at our costs... sheer waste of time. Please share it with all using E52. We are planning to file a court case to force Nokia to recall all E52 models.... its cheating customers.

this is not at a stable phone.. it hangs too often, its suddenly powered off within couple of weeks of purchase and had to be given to customer care who take their own sweet time to correct the problem but FAIL to tell you what actually is wrong. Was supposed to be a good package model E52 but a BIG BIG BIG disappointment and not at all stable.... DONT go for it

i dont know how these E series phones are rated so highly. Does constant freezing of the OS, lag in disconnecting the phone and restarting automatically counts as a good point these days. After struggling with the E71 and 72, the E52 was a real nightmare. Freezing up of the OS atleast 5 to 10 times a day, lag of a minute and half to disconnect a call, ringer randomly rings when it feels like, cannot configure hotmail and yahoo accounts, cracking of voice from the earpiece etc etc. So pretty much besides the battery life, this phone is a complete waste of money. Its better to buy a samsung corby pro or heck even a Micromax Q7.

If this phone would have been dual sim, it would have definitely hit the market. Why such a big company like Nokia is not making Dual sim phones instead we expect triple sim phones from Nokia if others make Dual Sim..

"In fact the E52 is just slightly thicker than the iPhone 4 (9.9mm vs. 9.3mm)." why in the world every comparison is made with the iPhone? I am sure there will be a time when people will say that my horse runs faster than your iPhone 6.

Infact, the apply fanbois would suggest that their iphone 4 already runs faster than your horse....

'Its cons are a poor camera and sluggish image and video gallery as well as a rather frustrating predictive text input system. However, these are minor niggles and as such we would love to recommend this phone'....... geez, that's a lot of nokia a**-kissing in that review right there. It's pretty clear that the author was less than impressed with a lot of the features, yet the conclusion is a sugar coated feeble attempt at not sounding overly critical...where have you techtree guys left your guts and ba**s?

E52's too old... It was released a couple pf years back. And it's being dumped here for 12K???? Daylight robbery. But I know a couple of guys who would still plonk down that kind of money for an outdated s60 device. It still has its loyal fan base, you see.

Good Work By Techtree.trying 2 convince us that, this is a great buy.But your trick will n't work. In the world Of Android,It's a piece of Crap.Better to buy Htc,Samsung product in this price or Someone can consider Blackberry 8530=Rs.13000.

I own this phone but yes I agree that Blackberry is a good bet. Few things blackberry lacks is VOIP, 3.2MP Camera and very few free applications.

"In the World of Android" \ Still Android isn't that well established as Symbian-Nokia devices here in India. "Someone can consider Blackberry 8530=Rs.13000" I think you don't know anything about mobile phones owning a BB doesn't give pride to anyone it all comes to how effectively you use your smartphone I bet you won't even get half the functionality of this device on BB.

Good review, I recently played around one on a Nokia priority dealer shop and I was thoroughly impressed, its unbelievably light weight and my 5800 and N73 feels like a brick on my hands now. Its surely comes under "Value for money series" from Nokia free Turn by Turn Voice Navigation with Ovi maps(Laughing at Android and Iphone), inbuilt Quickoffice editor and viewer, Great build quality and very well priced(once again LOL at Iphone and Andriod). I, recommed this device for anyone who wants a smartphone at a tight budget.

Lol, just read the comments, and would like to add, that not everyone wants a touchscreen and a UI thats uber customizable. And there is life beyond apple and android. The S60 OS might be old, but it still gets the work done for many.

i got this phone about three days back. And i have used E50, E51 so it was but naturally that the E52 had to come in. Pros - battery life, audio quality. cons - Camera no auto focus, and GPS is less sensitive than others. For a given location my N79 was displaying over 6 satellites available, while the E52 displayed only 3. other than that, the phone is extremely light weight, and super fast interface. It comes with a rotation sensor that can be used to silence calls, or to switch alarms to snooze mode. Also the screen rotation is extremely fast when the phone is held horizontal. The screen is crisp, which makes up for the lack of size. Its an ideal business phone for those who dont need a qwerty, or a black berry.

This phone is a total rubbish, instead the E72 is for Rs9700 with better display & qwerty keypad. I don't know who will buy this phone since the E71 & E72 are the best & cheap phones to buy.

I completely agree with Sunny. At the end of the day, this brand has just two kind of devices S40 & S60. These products are sold with some minor changes & when they get outdated, they make a comeback with same features, different name & looks. For example- N95, N85, N79 & 6300, 7210, 2730 & E61, E71, E63 & so on.

Probably the guy who tested the phone didn't knew how to use the T9 dictionary. It's a cakewalk to use T9.

Yes. I agree with you. The idiot who tested this phone doesn't know how to use T9. T9 is the greatest compare to other phones dictionary, It has lot of shortcuts & user friendly too.

@Probal There are still majority users , especially in India, China who have not joined ifool club or Googlised world. What you really mean dated OS? It has "real" mutitasking for ages, it has many apps, its fast and its cheap. Not everyone can afford ifones or androids. Show me phone with non Synbian OS which has all features of E52 and in same price and I will buy it.

With all respect Prasad, how can you recommend this phone, considering the dated OS on board. S60 simply cant compete with today's OSs.
