    An affordable HD camcorder

Compact, full HD recording, superb price, stylish, swivel touchscreen controls, excellent build, very light, crisp image quality, crystal clear sound, smooth and silent optical zoom, good battery life, SteadyShot, Face Detection, Smile Shutter

No optical viewfinder, touchscreen controls may be difficult to use, no wireless controller, awkwardly placed USB port, no headphone jack

The magnificence of HD movies has captivated us all, which is the reason for its growing popularity. Now, wouldn't it be just great if we too could record our videos in high definition? Sony is one of the companies that manufactures a range of digital cameras and camcorders, both non-HD and HD. They have sent us their brand new camcorder - Sony HDR-CX150E - that is capable of recording in full HD for review.

The SSD-based HDR-CX150E camcorder bears the stylish looks that are typical of camcorders from Sony. This particular model uses a 16 GB Flash memory as well as a MS Pro Duo card slot for more capacity. It features 25x optical zoom and also 300x digital zoom. We shall see in our review today how well this camcorder performs and whether what is shown on paper does indeed hold true.

I guess my fellow "commentors" have not bought any camcorder in India. At 30K, this HD camera is definitely well priced. I remember having bought a DV camera for 35K in the 90s and, quite recently, bought a Panasonic DV camera for 23K. Why not look up Canon or Panasonic HD cameras in the market before complaining? Do note that the same model costs $479 is USA (approx 22K) without any of the accessories bundled here. Of course, if we still think that the price of the camcorder should be equivalent to what we have in our pockets, then why not explore the possibility of asking certain uncle or aunt sitting in the USofA who can send it to their poor nephew in this third world country for free...
