That's right. If you are amongst the millions of people who still use the services of the Indian Postal service, this news might just interest you.
India's Postal Service now has its own Twitter handle now! This makes it the first Government of India enterprise to arrive on the popular social networking platform. The Twitter account will be used to post updates about various news concerning postal services - apart from addressing grievances of consumers.
Before we move further here's the link to the profile page @PostOfficeIndia. The profile was set up quite a while ago - three months back to be precise. However, it is now that it has gathered momentum. The account, even within the short span of its existence has managed to solve many a consumers grievances - highlighting the fact that social networks could be effective costumer service medium as well.
The Twitter account is also helpful for users who want to have queries regarding what and how they can send stuff. The only problem with the account seems to be this: As of now, there is only one guy who seems to be in charge of the account. We wonder who that geek at the post office would be!
the postal services in case of transfer of accounts from one state to another state in india are very sluggish and take sometimes several months, though time frame set for such transfer are only two to three weeks.I wonder why is it so.In cases of delay is there any acountiblity and if so who which is the authirity to whom the cusomer can approach.
I went to Vadapalani Post office to send 3 speed post letters, yesterday at 4 (30.12.10). The counter clerk asked me to wait till 5 and I had to wait . This happens all the time at Vadapalani office in sending Speed Post. It happens always in the evenings even i went at 5, 6 etc and this is always the case.
Many times the clerk as you to go for change and sends you away.
If they cannot accept speed post all the time then they have to mention the intervels clearly so that I could send my mails by courier rather than by speed post.
When I contacted the Post Master, She refused to give the compalaint Book ans asked me to wait.
This is the reason why many people opt for courier rathern than indian Postal service.
Thought that I should share an idea which occurred to me while I was trying to get a revenue stamp for some official purpose. I was told that a revenue stamp would be available only from a post office and there was no post office near my office locality.
I discussed with my friends that it would have been convenient if the Postal department could have some ATM like post boxes in prominent locations where stamps, post cards, inland letters would be available on paying the respective amount in the machine slot , not to mention the facility for dropping letters too which exists in a regular letter box.
This would make life so convenient for all of us.
Very good move by Indian Postal units for general and business segments for solving their problems to this field.
I hope that, this new set up will do real, affordable and sincere services to many Indians and non residents from all over the world.
Postal Authorities in connivance with the private courier agencies work together allowing relaxation to their own work performance such that to favour the private to prosper & survive in the market. Comments solicited.
